
Stevland Morris (ne Judkins, May 13, 1950) popularly referred to as Stevie Wonder is an American musician and singer. The singer-songwriter is frequently acknowledged as the first to pioneer a wide range of musical genres such as rhythm and blues and soul jazz, gospel, soul gospel and funk. A virtual one-man group, Wonder's use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments in the 1970s transformed the norms of R&B. Wonder helped bring these genres into the age of albums through LPs that were both cohesive and consistent. Blind since shortly after the birth of his son, Wonder was a child prodigy who signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11 at which point he was given the professional title Little Stevie Wonder. Wonder's success on the critical scene was at its height in the 1970s. His "classic period", beginning in 1972 it was when he released Music of My Mind. Talking Book featured "Superstition" which is one of the most famous and distinctive sounds produced by the Hohner Clavinet keyboard. His work Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingness"First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) all were awarded the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making him the tied-record holder for the most Album of the Year wins, with three. He is the only artist who has won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, with three consecutive albums. Wonder's "commercial period" began in the 80s. The singer had his most memorable songs and most famed and increased album sales. He also had charity participation, and high-profile collaborations.
